Guest Post: Have you ever lusted for a long-gone item?

Hi! I'm *jen and I'm popping in from time to time from my normal home-base, Fifty-Cent Head while our girl HaileyCosmic (AKA "Tink") is taking some time out. It's nice to be here, and while Ms. Tink's shoes can't be properly filled by anyone, I hope to keep you entertained and tuned-in to the beauty world while she's being casually lavish elsewhere.

So, on to my question: "Have you ever lusted for a long-gone item?" Have you?

While hanging out around the way, I heard so many people raving about MAC's Moth Brown eyeshadow, and I was so incredibly intrigued. As the makeup junkies say, "lemming born!" I was so thrilled when the Barbie Loves MAC collection debuted, and I snapped up Moth Brown quicker than you can say "taupe eyeshadow." Did it live up to those high expectations? Well... it is a great taupe shadow. But is it terribly unique? I don't know. I use it a lot, and the fabulous Barbie embossing doesn't hurt, either!

So, what brings this to mind? I was browsing through my Google Reader (what a nifty tool!) and saw one of my favorite Nail Boarders blogging about green polish. Now, green nails aren't my cup of tea, normally. I am interested in the new shade from Rescue Beauty Lounge (called No More War), which is a camo-green. But otherwise I'm just not that girl. Until I saw the often-hyped and completely and utterly discontinuted NARS Zulu swatched to my conflicted joy and frustration by Scrangie, nail blogger extraordinaire.

SLAM!

It hit me: I need this.

Where's the letter writing campaign to bring this color back? Count me in!

Have you ever fallen in love with a product that is long-gone? Tell us what it was! What did you do? Did you ever get it? Replace it? Find a reasonable dupe? Dish!

I wrote 5-7 Haikus about Mac Volcanic Ash Exfoliator and sent it to MAC CS. The response I received was, "thanks for your input, we are sending it along, we will be sending you a small token of our appreciation." It was nice to be acknowledged, I haven't received the "token" but hopefully it was amusing enough to the CS person that has to read all those e-mails. :-) But as far as bringing back the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator...nope. no dice....yet.

That nail polish is on ebay right now. I think the price is $71 now!

It is a beautiful green.
